This site is run by Paul Long who started sharing OCR ICT coursework resources free of charge to teachers across the UK and also internationally in the 1990s. Paul was a Head of ICT at a school in Walsall which was judged to be “Outstanding” by OfSTED with strengths in ICT until a few years ago when he changed career path to focus on supporting other teachers, although he still has contact with students several times a year through his popular revision sessions.
Paul spent many years as the Principal Moderator and Principal Examiner for the Structured Practical ICT Tasks coursework for OCR’s AS Level ICT. During this time, he gained valuable experience and knowledge of how an exam board operates and how complex assessments need to be clarified in order for teachers and students to understand them. Paul was also a Principal Examiner for the AQA Level 3 Technicals qualification and was an integral part of the core development team for the original AQA GCSE in Computer Science (8520). He has also worked informally with Edexcel to support the development of their updated GCSE in Computer Science (1CP2).
Paul was a co-author of two of Hodder Education’s best selling textbooks:
- OCR ICT for AS by Paul Long et al (out of print)
- OCR ICT for A2 by Paul Long et al (out of print)
His contributions to both books were considerable, including the whole set of practical chapters to the AS book, and chapters 3, 4 and 6 for the A2 book as well as a vast array of dynamic learning resources on the Hodder Dynamic Learning resources. He went on to self-publish his own AS & A2 ICT textbooks, presentations, activities and teacher pack.
Paul is also the main author for Cambridge International Examinations’ Coursebook for A Level IT which is now on its 3rd version. Paul self-publishes The Ultimate GCSE Computer Science Resources which saves schools hundreds of pounds.
Paul provides training to teachers across the UK and internationally both through paullong.net Ltd and through the National Centre for Computing Education. Paul has taught A Level ICT, GCSE ICT, GCSE Computer Science, A Level Computer Science, ECDL, Applied GCSE ICT and Entry Level ICT, amongst many other qualifications, and his students have always achieved consistently outstanding results.
When Paul is not working, you will find him enjoying time with his wife, son and daughter, spending time with friends and family, watching good quality television dramas such as Line of Duty, or taking part in adrenalin filled activities such as white water rafting, sky diving and water parks! He owns a caravan so spends a lot of time on holiday and also enjoys skiing holidays and anywhere where the sun shines! Most important to Paul is his faith in Jesus Christ and he is a member of Real Life Church in Sutton Coldfield. Paul is very active in his local community and is the Festival Director for the Boldmere Community Festivals which attract over 10,000 visitors.
